It's cover day in our advent calendar, and today's comes from a woman that you might not have heard of but you have definitely heard.

Mary Lambert provided vocals on the chorus of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' major hit 'Same Love' and you can expect to hear more of her solo stuff over the coming year. She recently recorded this cover of 'Teenage Dirtbag' for Billboard and explained what the song meant to her as a young woman coming out in high school.

We're particularly fond of the intensity she puts into her performance. Numerous times this song has come on in a club and people have had the audacity to smile while singing the whole thing. Lambert describes how her voice is "pleading" in her version, enaging with the innate pain of the original. Give it a whirl...

Mary Lambert's new EP is out on Tuesday, it's called Welcome to the Age of My Body and there's more info on it here.

This is actually the second cover of 'Teenage Dirtbag' that we've heard this year and totally fallen in love with.

BONUS ROUND: Oh what the hell, it's Christmas so we'll give you the other one. Here's Frank Hamilton's version that can be found on his Summer EP. The EP version also features Brendan from Wheatus doing the girl part.

Man, this reminds us that we keep meaning to do a feature on the best Wheatus songs that aren't 'Teenage Dirtbag'. There's a surprisingly large amount, go and look some up if you're impatient.

Don't forget to check out Supajam's advent calendar every day in the lead up to Christmas, where will be sharing a little treat with you in celebration of Santa's birthday. There are free tickets, songs, and albums all waiting for you to go and claim, as well as other things to amuse yourself with.
