Did anyone else catch that fleeting glimpse of the sunshine this morning? That was quite something, huh? It got us feeling all nice and festival-y, so we thought: Right! Clear the decks! WE WANT YOU SUN! In a probably doomed attempt to draw the sun back out, today's Free Track Friday is a hazy wash of sunkissed global dub courtesy of Joe Driscoll & Sekou Kouyate. The pair combine New Yorker Driscoll's folk rap experimentalism with Guinean Kouyate's mastery of the traditional Kora (in France Kouyate is known as 'the Hendrix of the Kora' for good reason..). Last years triumphant Faya album saw the duo pick up plaudits far and wide, and in advance of their forthcoming UK tour dates, the pair have handed over the albums title track to the capable hands of remixer Eddie Rankin. Rankin has given Faya the full on chest rattling dub treatment - don't bother listening through the laptop speakers though, cos this one is about some serious BASS. Listen and download, and dream of hotter days....
