So another Hop Farm Festival is done and dusted, but a fleeting memory of sunshine, laughter, cider and the gleam off Peter Gabriel's shiny dome.
As ever SupaJam were proud to send a whole host of acts to the festival, where they delighted the crowds with some sheer musical wizardry. We thought we'd catch up with the bands and see just how it was for them.. Here's what they had to say...
How did your gig go?
Really well thanks…
What was the highlight of your set?
The whole experience was amazing for me to be honest. The sound was perfect on stage and I was on a high afterwards playing to that many people and getting a good response. I also played a very new tune called 'Creatine' which seemed to go down very well.
Best experience of the festival?
Seeing the sun set over the campsite whilst I was playing was a great moment. I'd forgotten what the sun looked like up in Manchester. Also, this isn't very rock n roll... but the free showers on the campsite were ace.
Leaving early. Had another gig in Wiltshire on the Saturday, even though it was a great gig over there, it would've been nice to stay another night…
Did you see any other acts you enjoyed?
I discovered Lianne La Havas at the festival. Didn't have any idea what to expect, but she was amazing. Also, Billy Ocean (especially Love Train... big cheesy I know, but it was a proper feel good moment…), The Futureheads and fellow Supajam finalists Holy Moly and the Crackers. There were also some great buskers knocking about (I saw one guy absolutely nailing Nessun Dorma by Pavarotti with just an acoustic guitar... it was pretty impressive...)
Were any of your band shamelessly hammered?
I can't remember.
Who would be on your dream festival lineup?
Ben Folds Five… Queens of the Stoneage… Rage Against the Machine (has to be in the big tent!)… Mars Volta (big tent....)… Prince (unannounced at the camp acoustic stage.. or randomly busking somewhere)… The Eels…. Arctic Monkeys… Slipknot… ZZ Top… Honeyfeet… Extra Love…. Mariachi El Bronx (camp acoustic stage!)….and me (obviously…)
