100 stars support Lorde’s boycott of Israeli apartheid
When Lorde announced a June gig in Tel Aviv, a lot of fans asked she cancel it to help join the cultural boycott of Israel, and it’s deeply racist apartheid against Palestinians. She listened and did so, but caught flack from the other side, including being the target of a full page advert in the Washington Post which accused her of being a bigot… for standing up to bigots. A lot of Israeli’s support Lorde’s decision.
But the entertainment world was watching, and now over a hundred musicians, actors and creatives have signed a letter in support. Kathleen Hanna, Tom Morella, Mark Ruffalo (yes, the Hulk), were all included.
The letter explains “We deplore the bullying tactics being used to defend injustice against Palestinians and to suppress an artist’s freedom of conscience. We support Lorde’s right to take a stand.”
