6 Music Saved (Well, for a bit)

Consider us staggered, it looks like a public campaign has had some effect. The BBC Trust, who are currently running like a fox ahead of the Rupert Murdoch supported British government dogs, have announced that alternative music station 6 Music is going to be saved, and will not – as planned – be canned.

The initial decision to axe the station was taken as the Beeb tried to prevent the government slashing it apart, but now public protest has forced them to conclude “that, as things stand, the case has not been made for the closure of 6Music.” You can listen online from around the world to a station designed for people who like indie tunes. Of course, this isn’t a final report, just a halfway stage, but things look to be turning.
