92 Year Old Woman Tops UK Charts

In a blow to everyone arguing that ageism has taken over the west, a 92 year old woman topped the UK album charts this weekend, the oldest living artist to ever do so. The singer in question was Vera Lynn, and she isn’t there by some horrific comedy song playing on her age, but because a collection of greatest hits has sold well. She’s remembered chiefly as a ‘Force’s Sweetheart’ from the Second World War, and the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the declaration obviously had an effect. This wasn’t even her first week on the chart, as she’s been rising in position the last two. Meanwhile a slightly younger group, the Beatles, took many chart positions with the remastered versions of their albums. Meanwhile Jamie T kept the end up for youth who can barely talk coherently with his album at number 2.
