ACDC's drummer Phil Rudd says he'd only rejoin the band if Axl Rose goes

ACDC's drummer Phil Rudd says he'd only rejoin the band if Axl Rose goes

Maligned, drug-addled original AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has today admitted that he'd only rejoin the band if Guns N Roses frontman Axl Rose steps down.

“If Angus (Young) wanted me to play then that’s up to him - but I don’t really want to play with Axl Rose. I don’t really rate him,” he said of the Guns N'Roses frontman.

Rudd was replaced in the band last year after being convicted for drug possession. Chris Slade is the band's current drummer, and he considers it to be a "different beast".

''It's been what I've known for the past 40 years, but after this tour I'm backing off of touring and recording," he said. "Losing Malcolm, the thing with Phil and now with Brian, it's a changed animal. I feel in my gut it's the right thing."

During his time away from the group, Rudd has recently had a considerable heart attack.

“My housekeeper took me to the hospital where they hooked me up and did all these tests. Turned out I had a big heart attack. My artery was all blocked up, and they said I had to stay in and have an operation.”
