Public uproar over the potential sale of Abbey Road has caused EMI, the struggling music giant, to announce it won’t sell the iconic studio but will instead try to “revitalise” it: "Abbey Road studios had, for a number of years, been losing money and we have developed plans to revitalise the studios. These plans would involve a substantial injection of new capital." Presumably the Facebook campaigns, interest from major music figures like Andrew Lloyd Webber and the National Trust and English Heritage sniffing around to see if they could help are making that injection easier to find. The government has declared it a Grade II listed building, which restricts the changes that can be made to it.
