Alabama 3, The Shires and more announced for Black Deer Festival
There’s been another batch of names announced for this year’s Black Deer Festival, including some of the biggest acts in Americana. None other than Alabama 3 will be playing, and it’ll be an acoustic performance sure to live on long in the memory. If you ask nicely, they’ll be the mental soundtrack to the following year’s hi-jinks.
Also guesting will be The Magic Numbers (still made up of two pairs of brothers and sisters), The Shires (who originate from these humble shores but have made it abroad), and Stephen Spender, who is coming down from his current home – a London studio – for the event. You can see how the acts divide across the days above, but the headliners are: Friday – John Butler Trio, Saturday – Band of Horses, and Sunday – The Shires.
Also appearing at the festival is the Americana Music Association UK, who’ll be putting on a panel discussing the history of the organisation, so you’ll get chat from the like of Bob Harris (whose studio has featured in more than a few Black Deer Focus embeds), Stevie Freeman and more. Not to mention the emphasis on Southern cooking coming from the kings of BBQ.
The 2019 Black Deer Festival is being held in Eridge Park in Kent from Friday 21st  to 23rd June. Tickets are available from: https://blackdeerfestival.com/tickets/
