Amazon is modifying Alexa because it keeps laughing at people

Amazon is modifying Alexa because it keeps laughing at people
At first, the idea that Amazon’s smart speaker was laughing out loud at people for no good reason seemed like internet paranoia. Sample tweet from @GavinHightower: “Lying in bed about to fall asleep when Alexa on my Amazon Echo Dot lets out a very loud and creepy laugh... there’s a good chance I get murdered tonight.”

But it turns out Alexa really is making strange laughter at people, because Amazon are having to modify their software to stop it.

“We’re aware of this and working to fix it,” Amazon said. “In rare circumstances, Alexa can mistakenly hear the phrase ‘Alexa, laugh’... We are changing that phrase to be ‘Alexa, can you laugh?’ which is less likely to have false positives, and we are disabling the short utterance ‘Alexa, laugh’.”

Now they just need to take the blood hungry demon from out of it.
