Awna Teixeira has been in quite a few bands and toured the world with a popular act called Po’ Girl, but she’s taken a break to record and release debut solo album Where The Darkness Goes. Which is useful to know, what you need most of is to hear her voice, because there’s every chance you’re going to fall in love with it if you like Americana. It’s smokey, it’s honey, it’s a little bit folk, a little bit country, a glorious place inbetween. We’ve got a live recording of her playing ‘Rest Your Mind’ below, and she’s touring the UK now to promote it. (We’re told the album gets upbeat in places, but we’re not worried.)
