Barack Obama launches his own music festival

Following inviting Kendrick Lamar to play at the White House for Independence Day, curating a sensual as anything summer playlist and being shot in this picture at the G20 summit this week:

Barack Obama has decided to launch his own music festival. Named South By South Lawn, it was inspired by he and his wife Michelle's visit to Texas this year for South By South West to take part in a Q&A. It will take place on October 3rd at the White House.

“On October 3, the White House will convene creators, innovators, and organisers from across the country for an evening of music, film, and great ideas,” the press release for South By South Lawn reads. “It is a call to arms for every American to roll up their sleeves and make a positive mark on our country — and a celebration of the great work so many of us have already accomplished.”

Tickets will go to those who are nominated for making "big or positive change" in their community. You can nominate people here.
