Bataclan reopening this weekend in Paris

Bataclan reopening this weekend in Paris

The Batacalan Theatre will open for the first time this weekend since the tragic attacks there a year ago.

Sting will be the artist to mark the sombre occassion, and tickets have sold out.

“We will never forget the victims, we continue to grieve,” said Jérôme Langlet, head of the Bataclan about the 90 deaths on that fateful night. “But closing the venue, which has existed since 1865, was not an option. We have spoken at enormous length with the victims’ families, survivors, associations, our teams and the authorities, and decided that reopening is the best thing to do.”

“The owners haven’t changed anything, they even kept the crappy sofa,” Paul Louis, a Parisienne surgeon and music fan says. “That’s a statement. It’s a way to say, ‘you haven’t disrupted our way of life, we’re still coming here to have drinks with friends on crappy sofas.’”

The Bataclan attacks took place on November 13th 2015, 90 music fans lost their lives.
