Sorry Christian Bale, but to many people Batman was Adam West, the actor who played him in what we’re going to call a 1960s TV show, but let’s face it there were so many repeats to so many generations he’s practically ever ready. Sadly, we have to bring you the news that Batman has died aged 88 from leukaemia.
West had a long career, with roles before Batman and after, but at one point he wasn’t keen on what the show had done to him. Good roles were lost because directors feared audiences would just see Batman. But West didn’t get bitter, instead he made a decision to embrace the fame and lunacy of being Batman, and a string of modern, high profile appearances like basically being himself as the mayor in Family Guy followed.
The family have released a statement: “Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero.”
