Big acts cancel Pro-Brexit festival slots, only act who will step in is Bucks Fizz

Big acts cancel Pro-Brexit festival slot, only act who will step in is Bucks Fizz

Pro-Brexit festival BpopLive thought it had struck gold. It had Sigma, DJ Luck and MC Neat, Alesha Dixon, 5ive, Sister Sledge and East 17 all playing at its Leave EU endorsing event. The problem is, when they all found out about its political connotations, they all withdrew.

So the BpopLive organisers thought 'what on earth can we do?', 'there has to be an act who are Pro-Brexit? Or at least one who will sell out their principles for a slot?'

Step in, Bucks Fizz.

Bucks Fizz, a band who owe all of their success... To Eurovision...

Not even Bucks Fizz, members of Bucks Fizz. Cheryl Baker, Jay Aston and Mike Nolan, to be exact. Otherwise on the lineup is Nigel Farage, Liam Fox, Kate Hoey and an Elvis impersonator. Ripsnorting.

On the misleading booking and subsequent cancellation, representatives for Alesha Dixon and 5ive said the following.

"When Alesha was approached to perform at this event it was on the understanding that she would be there purely as an entertainer," Dixon's manager told Newsbeat.

5ive's rep said: "When Rich and Scott agreed to play the event they understood that it was a pop concert funded by one of the Brexit organisations and not a political rally."

BpopLive takes place Birmingham’s Genting arena on Sunday 19th June, four days before the EU referendum.
