Black Deer 2020: dates and first acts announced

Black Deer 2020: dates and first acts announced
We might not be getting the cyberpunk world we were promised in 2020, but we sure are getting another slice of the Black Deer Festival. This annual event majors in all things American, from folk, country, southern rock and more, through some of the best grilling the world has seen to clothes and other culture. This award-winning event will be on June 19th to 21st at Eridge Park in Kent for 2020.

So who can you see?

Wilco.

Yes, Wilco are the first headliner to be announced, and Jeff Tweedy and friends will be setting a very high bar. However we’re sure the other acts can help: The Dead South don’t just play any festival, only the good guys and they’ll be on the bill with a return visit. The Milk Carton Kids bring a Grammy nominated setlist, while Courtney Marie Andrews will perform the act she’s toured relentlessly since she was just sixteen. Irish Mythen and Amy Montgomery also return after winning many fans at previous festivals. Others on the list include The Felice Brothers, The Secret Sisters (let’s get those together), Jack Broadbent and his hipflask wielding slide guitar work, Juno nominated Madison Violet, The East Pointers and Midnight Skyracer.

Finally, cast your mind back to the classics and you’ll remember the Waterboys ‘The Whole of the Moon’… well they are also on the bill.

Here’s the BDF team’s announcement: ‘We’re both so excited to reveal the first set of artists for Black Deer 2020. We’ve listened closely to the passionate Black Deer audience and are proud to be bringing them not only the artists they already love, but artists they’re going to love. The loyalty our fans have shown us is just incredible and we’d like to thank everyone who bought a ticket without even a single name being announced! Heading into our third year, there’s an ever-growing sense that we’re building something very special and our team are working hard to deliver the best Black Deer Festival yet. There’s established names such as Wilco and The Waterboys, returning heroes like The Dead South and Irish Mythen and exciting emerging talent in Courtney Marie Andrews and Native Harrow in this first announcement. We can’t wait to add to this great line-up over the coming weeks and months and are looking forward to seeing everyone enjoying the atmosphere in our spectacular deer park next June!”
