Black Deer Focus: Daniel Antopolsky

Black Deer Focus: Daniel Antopolsky
Daniel Antopolsky was nearly a forgotten man. After a period in the 70s when he toured with and saved the life of Townes Van Zandt, he went off on his own travels. He never left music, writing and performing across the world, but the eyes of the music world left him. He might have stayed like that, raising a family and working on his farm until…

In 2012 he was ‘discovered’ by the music world once again, and since then the legend of Daniel Antopolsky has grown, including appearances at SXSW (the sort of appearance the festival was once known for), recording seven albums and generally finding a new audience for his life’s work, which includes over five hundred songs he’s picking from. A country star in his 70s who still has the glimmer to call his LPs “Old-Timey, Soulful, Hippy-Dippy, Flower-Child Songs from the Cosmos… Wow! (Unheard Songs of the Early 1970s: Part One).”

Black Deer will be Daniel’s first European festival. We’ve got ‘Bring It Back To Eden’ and you can bet we picked that for the link (there’s also Take A Big Bite Out of Crime).
