Black Deer Focus: Police Dog Hogan

Black Deer Focus: Police Dog Hogan
Given the hundreds of TV shows Disney are producing at the moment, you’d be forgiven for thinking Police Dog Hogan was one. But it’s not the name of the latest cop show, it’s an eight piece band from the UK who combine four part harmonies, classic Anglo-American folk instruments and a wry sense of humour. Their bio says they have a “Much-loved Guardian columnist,” but I’m not sure the world has loved newspaper columnists anymore.

For instance, we have the video for West Country Boy, which features the band in a local pub and some… err… charmingly animated mice getting hammered. It’s fun, it’s odd, it’s good preparation for their comedy classic ‘Shitty White Wine’. I think you’ve got the vibe now…

However they can do earnest too, with a Christmas song all about the corrosive effects of being lonely at Christmas. Black Deer Festival is being held 2021, June 18-20. Tickets from https://blackdeerfestival.com/
