Well, the Brit awards are now over, so who’s won the gong? (Which this year looks less like an award and more like an end of the pier novelty ornament.) Adele won Best British Female and Best Album, as everyone expected, but the massive shock was One Direction beating her in best British single. But don’t worry Adele, the thirteen year old girls who buy 1D records will soon be lovelorn and rinsing Someone Like You.
Ed Sheeran was Adele’s male pop counterpart, picking up Best British Male, and Best British Breakthrough, and collected the award looking like Prince Harry after three months in a cave. Lana Del Rey has proved divisive, including in the Supajam office, but she won Best International Newcomer, and was joined in the Best International zone by Rihanna and Bruno Mars as female and male respectively.
Coldplay scored their third Best British Group award, but that was voted on by Radio 2 listeners, so no surprise, and Foo Fighters won Best International Band. Blur picked up Outstanding Achievement, and gave a five song min set.
