If you’ve never heard Carly Simon’s classic song ‘You’re So Vain’, ask your parents. Or possibly your grandparents. Released thirty eight years ago, the song states “you’re so vain, you probably think this song is about you”, but never actually reveals who she’s referring to. At the time men from Warren Beatty to Kris Kristofferson, Cat Stevens to David Geffen were guessed. Now a new acoustic version gives a pretty major clue: play the song backwards (yes, really), and the name David is given several times. Most people are concluding this refers to her then head of the record label David Geffen. What is so beautiful about this whole situation is that Warren Beatty has repeatedly stated that the song is about him, thus fulfilling the prophecy.
