Chumbawamba unhappy as UKIP use their song

Tubthumping gets Farraged.

The UK Independence Party, or UKIP, are a right wing group of europhobics who sniff around the fringes of popular party politics. Chumbawamba are a group of self-styled anarchists. The two shouldn’t really mix, but for some reason UKIP leader Nigel Farrage recently walked onstage at his party’s conference to Chumbawamba’s top five hit Tubthumping.

Now, there’s something funny about this, because Tubthumping is the track which turned its singers into a laughing stock, so seeing Farrage adopt it is quite appropriate. But the band aren’t happy. In fact they’re livid. As former singer Dunstan Bruce told The Guardian

“This song being used by Ukip is so wrong. I am absolutely appalled that this grubby little organisation are stealing our song to use for their own ends. It's beyond the pale and if they use it again we will consider legal action.”

UKIP have stated that, now they’ve learnt the band aren’t happy, they won’t use it again.
