David Bowie's 70th birthday party plans announced in London

If you thought you'd spend what would've been David Bowie's 70th birthday and our first commemoration of his death crying, clutching onto your copy of Blackstar in the dark, you thought wrong.

A series of concerts celebrating the Thin White Duke's 70th have just been announced, with one taking place in London. The shows will kick off in Brixton - his hometown - at the O2 Academy on January 8th, the day of his birthday, and will also take place in New York, Los Angeles, Sydney and Tokyo throughout the month.

An event description on New York venue Terminal 5’s website, suggests the shows will “aid local charities,” and feature “a core two dozen musicians travelling plus many local, regional, and national musicians.”

The likes of Mike Garson, Adrian Belew, Earl Slick, Fishbone’s Angelo Moore, Gaby Moreno, Bernard Fowler, Joe Sumner, and more will be involved with the shows.
