Because of the content of his lyrics, Eminem has been dogged with accusations of homophobia throughout his career. He recently agreed to change some words on a UK tour, and once performed with the most famous gay singer in music, Elton John. Now Eminem’s revealed that his relationship with Elton goes much further, as he and Elton speak once every week to make sure Eminem’s recovery from drug issues is going well. Speaking to the Daily Record, Eminem explained

"He's somebody who's in the business and can identify and relate to the lifestyle and how hectic things can be for artists….He understands the pressure."

Elton has become something of a counseling service for troubled musicians, aiding Rufus Wainwright when he struggled with drugs, and trying to aid George Michael. But given the widespread presence of drugs in music, it must be good that there’s someone in the middle willing to help, even if they did sing Candle in the Wind 2.
