First foreign band ever playing in North Korea, now they're searching homes, burning foreign music

First foreign band ever playing in North Korea, now they're searching homes, burning foreign music

Kim Jong-un, North Korea's very own shit on a stick, has ordered police to go from house-to-house in search of foreign music, and thusly incinerate it.

The debate has gathered fuel after it was announced that Laibach, a band from Slovenia who've been accused of wearing NK military uniforms and bending over for the propaganda, will be performing two concerts in Pyongyang this August.

A source leaked the information to South Korean online publication Daily NK that “the local propaganda departments are getting Inminban heads to collect cassettes and CDs from people’s homes and are combing through them. If even one song from the banned list is discovered, they incinerate the whole thing.”

It remains to be seen how this whole thing is going to play out. To all those North Korean post-rock fans out there, we hope you've got a cellar full of LPs, with an iPod beyond your wildest dreams, a poster of Slint and a poker face.
