This story’s been reported in a few places with people pussyfooting around the subject, using phrases like ‘influenced’, and ‘similarities’, presumably avoiding ‘ripped off’ because they don’t want to get sued. But the fact is New York art band Gang Gang Dance have had a complaint to Island records accepted, and will be getting a chunk of the royalties for Florence and the Machine’s ‘Rabbit Heart’ because parts sound pretty bloody similar. And this wasn’t an accidental copying, as Florence has stated that the section was an homage to them, but the lack of a credit on the album was a mistake which will now be rectified.
