Foals singer 'I'd rather somebody stole the record on vinyl than bought it or streamed it on Spotify

Foals singer Yannis Philipakis is the latest musician to hit out against Spotify.

"I'd rather somebody stole the record on vinyl than bought it or streamed it on Spotify," he told Channel 4 News. "Because I think you should listen to music on vinyl, and I think basically anything's better than that (Spotify)."

Philipakis then offered an opinion on the topical issue of the amount artists are paid by the service, which is rumoured to be around £0.009.

"It's like going to a restaurant when the chef and all the waiting staff have worked their asses off, and you leave coppers as a tip, and you don't even pay the bill. That's basically what Spotify's like, I think," he said.

David Byrne doesn't like Spotify, and neither does Thom Yorke, if you hadn't heard. However, , Lars Ulrich LOVES Spotify (and is probably making money from it).
