Fyre Festival: Matt Skiba claims he stopped it with witchcraft
We still don’t know whether Fyre Festival was a deliberate fraud, an event organised by idiots that went wrong, or as Twitter seemed to think schadenfreude given physical form, but we do now know why it failed.
Okay, we don’t, but Matt Skiba thinks he does. The Alkaline Trio man was due to be fronting Blink 182 for the event before they pulled out for technical reasons, and given the organisers didn’t appear to be take a shit competently, that’s believable. Now, Skiba has revealed his true reason (quotes from NME via Billboard
“I had a bad feeling about that event… I consider myself a pagan and a witch. With every inch of my energy I wanted Fyre not to happen. I put all the electricity and energy in my body against that thing happening.”
“We pulled out for technical and logistical issues, and the rest of it crumbled to shit because that’s what it was… It was bullshit. I used my witchy ways and it seemed to work. I’ll take responsibility and everyone can blame me.”
