Hurts' new video is about hate crimes

Hurts’ new video is about hate crimes
NME described Hurts’ new video for Beautiful Ones as “a colourful celebration of gender fluidity,” which is weird, because there’s no celebration in these visuals, instead there’s stark violence and a reminder that gender fluidity is punished in our culture more than accepted.
Singer Theo Hutchcraft is the star of the video, from dancing in a club while dressed as a woman to screaming in a car with blood over his face. You might not be expecting the song to be such a synth pop banger given these descriptions, but it is. A curio.
The band prefer “themes of hate, love, brutality and beauty are explored throughout the piece which is rooted in both intrigue and empathy.”
