John Frusciante has a new solo album coming out, and if you’ve not heard about it before it might surprise you. It’s called ‘Maya’ after his beloved but now departed cat and companion, which is why he’s using his John Frusciante name rather than other monikers, but if you’re a fan of his work with RHCP or his early solo albums you might be shocked to find Maya is influenced by breakbeats and jungle, and is coming out on a label owned by Venetian Snares.
We’ve got the video for new track ‘Brand E’ today, and it’s frenetic, but the sounds have a certain chill to them, and that doesn’t make sense written down but give it a spin and see what we mean.
Maya is out October 23rd.
