The creative heart of emerging Brit rockers Kasabian is guitarist and songwriter Serge Pizzorno. In a recent magazine interview he explained how he feels children are growing up without the rebellious role models of earlier decades:
"Kids don't know about the rock'n'roll way anymore. I don't mean just the music but Hemingway, Bukowski, Picasso.people who saw the world differently." He went on "Bukowski, Keith Richards, Hemingway.those are artists that I respect. Those are the people you have to live up to if you can. They embraced a wild life so that they could experience something special. I am fascinated by that and I always will be.”
This is certainly a cultural step up from the interviews of most lad rock bands, can you imagine Liam Gallagher saying we need more Hemingway? Not unless it's some kind of clothing. And a new Picasso too; hmm, we've long suspected Tracy Emin doesn't really count...
