Kelis opening London restaurant

The Brit award winning and Grammy nominated pop star Kelis is planning to open a pop-up restaurant in London for the first time later this month.

Besides being mostly recognised for her music she has shown to have quite a fiery passion for cooking after growing up with a mother who ran a catering business in Harlem which acts as her inspiration in combination with her attendance to culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu. In fact, she even had her own cookbook published, titled ‘My Life on a Plate: Recipes from Around the World’ which has a 4.5 star rating on amazon.co.uk

Kelis Rogers plans to open her pop-restaurant in London, working with cooking due Le Bun and will then take her cuisine on the road to serve at upcoming festivals around the UK. The menu will not be restricted to one cuisine but will use plates and ingredients influenced by Kelis’ Caribbean and American heritage with the hundreds of dishes and styles she has been exposed to during her time travelling the world while on tour. Example from her menu include pork infused with bot Asian and Puerto Rican flavours and Latin American-style seabass ceviche.

While her food career has gained a lot of momentum recently, with her cookbook, range of spices in America, pop up restaurant and UK festival food truck she continues aim high by claiming that she would like to farm the food she makes. “I want a farm where I can grow my own ingredients and have control over the whole process,”.
