Laura Mvula was dropped by a forwarded email

Laura Mvula was dropped by a forwarded email
We might live in a world of technology, but we can all still hope for some personal treatment, to hear a voice at the good and bad times. Unfortunately, if you’re Laura Mvula, you only find out you’re dropped from your contract by a forwarded email.

She’s been talking to the Beeb, and revealed that while her manager had a face to face meeting with Sony, the news about her dropping came in a seven line digital message which was forwarded, not even unique. She’d signed a five album deal with Sony, and her first album did well, but when the critically acclaimed and Mercury nominated second album fared less successfully her days were sadly numbered.

"I didn't see anyone, I didn't hear anybody's voice. I just read words. It felt so cold and cruel," she said. "Not even the fact that I was dropped, the way that the whole thing happened. To be treated like that doesn't feel quite just."
