Leave on your festival wristband? Well, you need to cut it off for health and style

Leave on your festival wristband? Well, you need to cut it off for health and style

Are you the kind of person who has a sleeve full of festival wristbands more detailed and indicative of your life than your medical history? Well, we have some bad news for you: they're bad news.

Yeah, a study by microbiologist Dr. Allison Cottell suggests you should snip the wristband away, immediately. Well, unless you like the idea of germs from the toilet brush and the sweat of others gathering on your wrist and dipping into your beer when you're at the pub.

So Cottell studied somebody that wore two fabric festival wristbands for two years, and found nearly 9,000 micrococci and 2,000 staphylococci bacteria on them - which is more than twenty times the bacteria found on clothes. It is suggested this bacteria can cause infections, lead to boils, and in some cases food poisoning.

Is it really worth it, festival-goer? Need you remember that mind blowing slot on the Park Stage or 5am soul search with every beat of the pulse... Maybe it's time to pick up the scissors?
