When barmy fan Mark Chapman killed John Lennon, the world lost a musician who was both far ahead of his time and struggling with his quality control. On October 9th Lennon would have been seventy, and to celebrate his estate are re-releasing eight of his solo albums. In fact, unlike the Beatles, you’ll be able to get them digitally too. There’s also going to be a greatest hits compilation for people who don’t like albums, a four CD set, and a mammoth 11 CD ‘John Lennon Signature Box’; you’ll need the latter if you’re a big fan because it will have 13 unreleased home recordings. We hope this publicity leads to greater exposure for Lennon’s legacy, whatever you think that is.
