Metallica vs the Taliban

War, what is it good for? Arms sales apparently. The Associated Press has published a report that, if it came out on April 1st, we would have ignored, but which they appear to think is real. So, we somewhat skeptically report their claims that US Special Forces troops in Afghanistan are trying to drive the Taliban out of some communities by playing Metallica and other songs how they should be played: very fucking LOUD.

The AP claims they’ve converted a vehicle to carry speakers which can be heard two miles away on a good day, and the music is ‘motivating’ Marines in the area. Luckily there is someone who appears to have a grip on reality, and that’s Marine commander Brian Christmas (are we sure this isn’t made up?), who said "it's inappropriate" and he’s "going to ask this to stop right now."
