Microsoft don’t like Guardians of the Galaxy’s Zune joke

Microsoft don’t like Guardians of the Galaxy’s Zune joke
Ah, the Zune, Microsoft’s answer to the ipod, a device so successful you won’t have heard much about it for several years… unless you watched Guardians of the Galaxy and found a joke about it. Now, if you haven’t been to the cinema yet, go this evening, while for everyone else…

GotG2 director James Gunn has been doing a Facebook question session, and he revealed Microsoft didn’t like the joke at first, and thought they were mocking the Zune and playing on it being a massive flop. Which it was.

But Gunn defends the Zune, and argues it’s actually part of a pivotal and tender moment, and the spoiler follows: “As [Quill] starts to listen to the music… Baby Groot crawls into his lap… And as we see Peter Quill looking down at Baby Groot, we see a father’s love for his son. And it is a very unselfish moment on the part of Peter Quill.”

Yes, but it’s also a marvellous joke.
