Sad news from the resurgent Beach Boys; founder member Mike Love, who owns the copyright to the name, has thrown out all the remaining members. And yes, that includes Brian 'I wrote all the good songs' Wilson. The decision will take effect after their 50th anniversary tour concludes at Wembley Stadium tonight. Along with Wilson, out go founder member Al Jardine and long standing member David Marks. Love hasn't given a solid reason for his decision, but his years of feuding with Wilson are well known. He plans to continue touring with fellow long term Beach Boy Bruce Johnston, and a backing band.
Brian Wilson expressed diappointment at the news, telling CNN that
“I’m disappointed and can’t understand why he doesn’t want to tour with Al, David and me. We are out there having so much fun. After all, we are the real Beach Boys.”
An online petition has formed to protest against Love's decision, which you can sign here if so inclined
Here's some footage of them playing live earlier this year, in the line up that you won't see again...
