Mrs Brown's Boys film delayed due to Brexit financial crisis

If there's any penance for those who voted Brexit because they voted in favour of the colour of Boris Johnson's hair, it's that the funding for Mrs Brown's Boys' has been impacted by Brexit, meaning that a sequel has been delayed.

The first film was released in 2014 was somewhat remarkably a success in UK cinemas on release, which prompted a sequel. That has now all changed, according to the show's creator Brendan O'Carroll.

"We were planning to do it this year, but the numbers weren’t right," O’Carroll said. "The Brexit drop in sterling makes it a lot more expensive for the studio than it would have been previously."

"The plot and outline are there and ready to go," he added, also saying that he and the show's other writers "know what’s going to happen and how we’re going to do it" once the economy stabilises.
