Nelly fans streaming 'Hot In Herre' to help him pay monstrous tax bill

Nelly fans streaming 'Hot In Herre' to help him pay monstrous tax bill

Fans of Nelly are doing their best to relinquish the heat that the IRS are putting on the singer.

Yeah, unless you didn't know, he's been served a monstrous tax bill that he simply can't afford. But instead of apathetically letting him fall apart, fans are trying to stream his mega-hit 'Hot in Herre' on loop until he can afford the bill.

Dubbed the #HotInHerreStreamingParty, it has been trending on Twitter. One fan tweeted: "pro tip: turn your phone to mute and put on "hot in herre" while you sleep tonight. 7 hours sleep = 110 plays."

It's no small task though, Nelly owes $2,412,283 (£1.8m) in Federal taxes. Nelly is also said to owe $149,511 (£113,000) in taxes to the state of Missouri in a separate debt that dates back to 2013. This means that he'll have to get around 280 million streams to pay off his bill.

The song was released originally in 2002.
