The Arctic Monkeys wouldn’t have got far if they’d been called ‘Some Lads from Sheffield’, but somehow this straightforward approach works for Me and My Drummer, a pair from Berlin who aren’t afraid to explore the much maligned alt-pop genre.
They cover a range of bases, but for the track we have below – the title from their ‘Don’t Be So Hot’ EP – they’re doing low key emotion: imagine if Ellie Goulding was actually any good, and you’re partway there. We also have the more upbeat, shiny track Heavy Weight. A debut album called The Hawk, The Beak, The Prey is out at the end of October, and they’re playing some UK dates.
