New Music: The Battles of Winter

A band called The Battles of Winter. An album called Standing at the Floodgates. We were expecting some sort of pagan metal act, or Tolkein style folk rock, but instead we’re very pleased to find a band with one foot in post-punk and another in contemporary rock. Imagine PiL playing Interpol songs, and you have a thirty seven minute burst of social comment, angular music and expansive texture. They’re proud to bill themselves “Unsigned, Underfunded, Undeterred.”
