New York sets hilarious new rule for men spreading legs too wide on Underground

The Metropolitan Transport Authority, New York's equivalent to Transport For London, have launched a campaign to try and curb the enthusiasm of blokes who catch the underground and spread their legs too wide.

The campaign, named "something new, something fresh", targets men who do this:

"When you get to the hardcore violators and courtesy doesn't work, then you have to take enforcement action," Moerdler told AM New York.

Oritz said man spreaders "is an issue" — although he denied receiving consumer complaints.

The campaign launches in January, and will also target passengers taking off their backpacks while they ride.
