If you thought yesterday’s comments by Noel Gallagher on Margaret Thatcher seemed odd, you can rest easy: it turns out he still hates the woman. He’s claiming he was misrepresented when he said things like “Under Thatcher, who ruled us with an iron rod, great art was made. Amazing designers and musicians. Acid house was born. Very colourful and progressive.”
He took to a blog to clarify that "I've read the story and I must say it's very misleading; any great working class art, fashion, youth culture etc came to be IN SPITE of that woman and her warped right-wing views and NOT BECAUSE of them." And just to (try and) remind you all he’s a chippy working class lad who hasn’t forgotten his roots: "Also for the record, on the day that she dies we will party like it's 1989. Just so you know."
Image restored. Although he does still seem to think better music was being made back then.
