October 13th is National Album Day
It feels like every day of the year is a national day of something and joining Earth Day and Tomato Sauce Day (only one of this is probably real) is National Album Day.
Yes, this year it’s officially 70 years since the album format began, and on October 13th we are all invited (by people selling albums) to sit down at 3.33pm and listen to our favourite LP, having spent the previous week talking about the format (and buying it).
2017 saw an almost 10% increase in the consumption of albums from the year before, as people buying and streaming went back to the days of longer listens.
