Oxfam is a charity devoted to helping alleviate poverty in over seventy different countries, which I think we can all agree is a good idea. Oxjam is their month long music festival where bands play gigs to raise money, also a good idea. To help kick this year’s Oxjam off a few high profile names have been announced, including The Charlatans assisted by a member of the Horrors, Dan le Sac versus Scroobius Pip, Four Tet, Faithless and even Johnny Borrell. Pop is served by Diana ‘the claw’ Vickers and Gabriella Cilmi. Most of the hard work is done by bands from the local music scenes, so keep an eye out if you’re in Britain. The Oxfam website has a gig finding tool, and bonus points for the gig offering cake.
