Paramount defend Mother and jab at Netflix
Mother, the new movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and directed by Darren Aronofsky has received some glowing reviews as a surreal masterpiece, but it’s also had some scathing responses from audience goers who thought they were getting something different. In fact, a rating system gave it an F.
Now Paramount have defended the film, and they told the Hollywood Reporter: “You are talking about a director at the top of his game, and an actress at the top her game. They made a movie that was intended to be bold. Everyone wants original film-making, and everyone celebrates Netflix when they tell a story no one else wants to tell. This is our version…. We don’t want all movies to be safe. And it’s OK if some people don’t like it.”
If Paramount really mean this, it’s great that they’ll support such work.
