Sad, sad news. The stadium drum n bass monsters Pendulum have announced they are to split. Lead songwriter Rob Swire has told his twitter followers that "there will be no further Pendulum live shows. There are no current plans for a new album in 2013." Swire is currently touring in his new Knife Party guise- and apparently he's loving it way too much to rejoin his original crew, telling Australian radio station Triple J
"The Knife Party thing is going so well we don't really feel like going back to junior school anytime soon... We're having too much fun with this project. It's also great because Pendulum towards the end sort of felt like we were doing it because we had to and that's never a fun way to do music. Whereas Knife Party is pretty much solely us doing what we want to and if no one likes it we don't care."
Pendulum have been active for a decade, growing from an early noughties underground dn'b act into the stadium crushing behemoth that has straddled Earth's arenas and festivals for the past few years. The two remaining members Paul "El Hornet" Harding and Ben "The Verse" Mount have remained quiet on the split, but doubtless wish Rob the very best with his new project.
Here's a blast of the Knife Party work that's got Swire so excited. Probably best listened to at deafening volume whilst pulling handbrakes in Lidl carpark.
