Pixies Confirm New Bassist

Pixies announce new bassist

Following the sudden departure last month of bass player Kim Deal's replacement, Kim Shattuck, the Pixies have this morning made an announcement to who will be filling her vacant shoes.

Taking on touring duties for the band on their 2014 jaunt - which so far includes a headline slot at East London's Field Day in June - will be Paz Lenchatin.

Best known for her brief work with Billy Corgan in his long defunct outfit, ZWAN, and also as part of A Perfect Circle, Lenchatin will be joining Pixies for the start of their tour at Massey Hall in Toronto on 15th January.

Of the new addition, drummer David Lovering said, "We are really looking forward to playing with her on these dates. Working with different bass players is very new for the band, but we're having a great time doing it".

There is still no word on the reason for Shattuck's parting ways with the band, which is something she announced with apparent surprise via twitter. The band has also failed to comment as to the reason for not recruiting a bass player with the name 'Kim'.
