Police investigating as two die at T in the Park

Police investigating as two die at T in the Park

A man and woman have both died in two separate events at T in the Park.

Police Scotland confirmed it is investigating. A spokesman added: "Work is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding both."

Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, described the reports as "tragic".

She added: "I am sure I echo the sentiments of everyone when we send condolences to the families involved and, indeed, to the organisers of T in the Park who have worked hard this year to overcome last year's concerns about public safety.

"Clearly, an investigation now has to take place and I hope this will be undertaken as quickly as possible. It is essential that police establish exactly what happened and why."

Geoff Ellis, T in the Park's director, said: "We are shocked and saddened by today's news and our thoughts are with the families and friends at this time. We are offering our full support and assistance."

The iconic Perthshire, Scotland festival takes place over this weekend. 80,000 people will attend.
