President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama appearing at music festival this summer

If there's any way to accurately portray SXSW Festival, it'd be a video of American president Barack Obama leant on a microphone stand, sipping a Red Bull and nodding along the man who's serenading his speech, Ryan Adams.

The Austin, Texas industry buffet has announced that the Obamas will be making an appearance this year, heading what is always a ridiculously extensive, impressive lineup... Sponsored by Papa Johns... Sponsored by Cheesestrings.... Sponsored by BP.

Editor In Chief of The Texas Tribune, Evan Smith will chat to Barack about civic engagement in the 21st Century, asking the audience to apply their own ideas and talents to make technology that will facilitate society in tackling big challenges such as political participation and climate change.

Whilst First Lady Michelle Obama will discuss the Let Girls Learn initiative, an organisation that aims to break barriers for 62 million girls around the world who aren't in school.

SXSW Co-founder Roland Swenson said, “I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate our event’s 30th year than to welcome both the President and First Lady to SXSW. As each new generation comes up at SXSW they look for ways they can be of service, and it’s important to reflect and support that message. President and Mrs. Obama’s visit here will inspire attendees to that purpose.”
